Welcome!
I'm Ashley (please call me Ash), your farm raised, wine loving introvert, turned aesthetician and hairdresser, turned Wife & Mom, turned small shop owner, turned homemaker/organizer/ blogger. As you've gathered, I've worn my share of hats so let's start from the start.
I was born on June 30th, 1989 in Lloydminster, SK to my two amazing parents, Lionel and Jeanette. Just after I turned five years old, my parents ventured out to live on the family farm just north of Rivercourse, AB. This is where my vivid childhood began of tractor rides, making tree forts out back, shelling peas on the front deck, campfires with the neighbourhood kids, hoocha rides (if your Ukrainian you probably know LOL), and many more memories we will visit down the road. I began my academic career in September 1995 where I rode the bus to Paradise Valley, AB to attend E.H Walter School until my grade 12 year. The one hallway "pink" school was a safe place where everyone knew your name, where you lived, your grandma's middle name, and what you did on Friday night.
After, graduating high school I attended Lakeland College in Lloydminster to take their Aesthetician program. After a couple years of diving into facials and pedicures, I felt I needed to branch out. I made my way to Saskatchewan where I attended MC College in Saskatoon for hairdressing. I LOVED that city and it still gives me special feelings every time we visit and met some of the most special people there that still hold a place in my heart.
Once I had my hairdressing diploma in tow, I made my way back home. I kept busy at a salon in town where I could happily do both hairdressing and aesthetics in my everyday work life.
Being back in my hometown with a great job and being surrounded by family and friends was a blessing. But my happiest moment was the beginning of a love story with my now husband, Gord. You know that old saying "Every love story is beautiful but ours is my favourite" must have been wrote just for us.
I had previously met Gord a few years back and I mean it when I say, something clicked. We began dating in the spring of 2011. We moved into our first home together shortly after that and it was travelling, socializing, selling homes, building homes, long distancing at times (Oil field life) until October 23, 2013 when Gord proposed at the Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. A moment I will never forget and a story for an another time.
We exchanged vows on November 14, 2015 in Lloydminster, AB in front of our family and friends. It was the BEST DAY EVER. Shortly after our I DO's, we welcomed our first daughter Presley Ashton into the world on February 11th, 2017 and she has been our ray of sunshine ever since. Skip ahead to January 31, 2019 when our wild one was born. Nash Jay came into the world as our little fighter and has stayed true to his stubbornness, determination, and strength ever since.
All good things take time and we knew where we wanted to plant our roots for our forever. In June 2021 we ventured south of Lloydminster to rent a farmhouse that was close to our future forever spot and the perfect area so Presley could start Kindergarten in the fall at the same school I grew up in.
Like I said, all good things take time and here we are, almost 3 years later and we are weeks away from moving into our dream home at my family farm, our forever spot.
Our kids are now 4 and 6 with busy social lives with cheerleading and hockey. My husband has spent the last three years building his dream business which is thiriving and growing. For me, I'm happily in my stay home mom era with big dreams for my small shop, The Ash Edit Company.
With this blog, I hope to reach other woman who are looking to simplify their lives, organize their homes for clearer minds, and have a place to come that feels like home with comforting food recipes, home lifestyle tips and tricks, book recommendations, and everything in between.
Now that you know a little more about me, I hope you stop by the blog frequently with your favourite beverage and leave feeling inspired and refreshed.
Welcome to the The Ash Edit Blog and thank you for joining me on this new adventure.
Ash
